Scope:
KZF Design provided architectural, electrical, mechanical, and interior design services for Andersen's new 59,000-square-foot office. This project won KZF the 2001 Honor Award from the International Interior Design Association.

Project description:
Andersen asked KZF to create a dynamic, innovative space equipped with the latest technology and flexible enough to accommodate their consultant employees. According to Andersen, "Shared work spaces were established to emphasize a community atmosphere where people have a sense of belonging—even if they're just stopping in for an hour."

Andersen's contemporary office is defined by wavy, flowing textures and patterns. In the lobby, the exposed ceilings are partially covered with undulating screens, lights hang from metal supports, and circular patterns decorate the furniture and carpet. The meshed screen floating below the ceiling is also used as a divider between the lobby and receiving area, clearly separating the two spaces while still allowing light to enter. Small, eclectic details are found throughout the office—from the light fixtures to the original columns and shelving system supported by solid cardboard rolls.

Additional amenities include a restroom with showers, lock boxes to drop off laptops needing service, spacious work stations, vending/kitchenette areas and touchdown spaces equipped with phones and computer hook-ups.

"I wish more of the architects and designers we work with were as detail oriented and image conscious as KZF. We need to work with your firm more often."

Jan Moody, Andersen
