Scope:
KZF's one-mile widening and reconstruction of Paddock Road and the interchange with I-75 provides benefits to the surrounding communities as well as Cincinnati as a whole.

Project description:
KZF provided architectural and engineering services, including an environmental assessment, preliminary engineering, and construction plans, for the $13 million one-mile expansion and reconstruction of Paddock Road and the interchange with I-75.

The project improved traffic flow with wider traffic and turn lanes, improved access between I-75 and the surrounding neighborhoods, provided increased business opportunities and created more accessibility to the development taking place in the surrounding communities.

KZF designed the neo-art-deco Paddock Road Gateway Bridge with architectural features which indicate that the bridge is a gateway to the city, including 4 pre-cast concrete tower ornamental metal railings with lighted letters spelling out CINCINNATI.

The design plans included:
  • A new storm sewer system
  • Reconstruction of Seymour Avenue and Summit Road
  • Lighting plans
  • Signage and pavements marking right-of-way plans
  • Maintenance of traffic plans for Paddock Road and I-75
  • Modification of ARTIMIS System
  • Vandal screening
  • A new single span, eight-lane composite arched-plate girder bridge across I-75
