Scope:
KZF designed a 46,000-square-foot YMCA branch with numerous features and amenities. Because of its success, the firm is already designing a 5600 square-foot ground floor additional for a new senior center and an expanded fitness center.
Project description:
When the YMCA of Greater Cincinnati decided to build a new facility in Boone County, KY, it tapped KZF Design for the project. The building accommodates about 3,500 families and features an outdoor pool with a 15-foot slide and a “sprayground” for kids. The facility also includes administrative offices, social areas, gymnasium, group exercise area, locker rooms, natatorium and fitness center. The outdoor pool portion of the project was a joint project between residents of Boone County and the YMCA.
The lower level houses the St. Luke Hospital Sports Health and Wellness Center. The center specializes in physical therapy and sports enhancement programs, as well as a variety of wellness programs and massage therapy for patients and clients.
KZF Design partnered with Paul Hemmer Construction Company on this design-build project.
This project won the 2005 Design-Build Merit Award from the Design-Build Institute of America/Ohio Valley Chapter.
