UC's Student Recreation Center has received LEED certification from the USGBC.

KZF was the project architect on this 353,000 square-foot facility – designed by Thom Mayne of Morphosis – which completes UC’s transformation from commuter college to modern student-life university.

As project architect for the University of Cincinnati's Student Recreation Center, KZF Design brought to life the incredible vision of Pritzker Prize-winning architect Thom Mayne of Morphosis. The sweeping architecture weaves three building as one – 353,000 square feet intertwine activity, academics and modern living. The central, barrel-roofed area houses the recreation center, which features a 50-meter Olympic pool, and leisure and current-training pools. The 1/8 mile, four-lane suspended track overlooks the six-court gymnasium. The fitness center includes 10,000 pounds of weights, a cardio theater, and more than 200 fitness machines. There are eight racquetball courts – and a 40-foot climbing wall.

The building also houses 224 dorm suites, six classrooms, offices and study lounges. Dining options include a juice bar, CenterCourt's eight taste stations – with seating for more than 400 people – and The Stadium View Café overlooking Nippert Stadium.

Located at the heart of campus, the Student Recreation Center completes UC’s transformation from a commuter college to an urban university rich in all facets of student life.
